I have 2 Maltipoo 8yrs and 8 months, underground fences or training collar?

Hello, I have 2 Maltipoo 8yrs and 8 months, they need to operate, so I was thinking that I have the underground fence or should I try collar.Please training to help younger, I almost got hit by a car yesterday, chasing a bird .. "

I have had the "invisible" type of fence for over 10 years. "invisible" type of fence is not cruel, as some people on this site will tell you. The given shock is mild (and yes, I have been surprised by it). The shock value is immeasurable. The best kind of necklace of barrier systems also give a warning beep when the dog approaches the perimeter long before delivering a shock. With proper training the dog will learn quickly where can and can not go. Therefore not receive a shock. Most people will tell you that do not work are ignorant about the fences in the first place or who bought one (such garbage time as Gates and many others), hit the neck in the dog and then tore out the door without training him. And sometimes just plain stupid, and you can not fix stupid. Sometimes a conventional fence is not an option due to cost of about a great piece of property or because some housing developments have restrictions on the fences. Sometimes a conventional fence will not contain your dog at all. You can go above or below it. If you are looking for an Invisible Fence brand fence you will have to contact with a local dealer for a price to install it but I can almost guarantee it will be over $ 1000.00. If you install yourself (and it's pretty easy to do 2 to 3 hours depending on the size of your property), is available online (but not the brand I / F). "invisible" type of fence consists of three things. The first is the cable that is buried an inch or two on the floor. This wire defines the outer perimeter of the containment zone. You can also block areas (flowers, pools, etc.) within the containment zone. Some experiments may be necessary in this regard. The second is a transmitter that mounts on the inner wall and connected to the fence wire, and the third is the collar the dog wears. The transmitter sends a radio signal to the AM band collar sense if your pet reaches near the field of electronics. The neck is given a correction. Some of the best will give a warning beep before delivering a shock. Although it is a blow that will not harm the pet in any way. Small marker flags are placed along the inside edge of the area from 5 to 10 feet during the training period and delete (every from each other) as the pet gets used to the fence. Huskies are escape artists. We have 16 of them. All I have found they can not go over or under is invisible type fencing. Some people say it does not work on Huskies. They do not know what they are talking. You can not buy cheap things, like what they sell at Lowe's or Home Depot or PetSmart etc. The best I've found is the Smart Dog Innotek 2100. You can find it online at several sites, discounted for less than $ 170.00 with 1 collar. Extra Collars about $ 80.00. The kit has everything needed including 500 'of wire and flags, enough to make a quarter acre. Expansion kits (500 'cable and flags) are available for $ 38.00 and include a little over an acre. The collars are rechargeable (unlike the "Invisible Fence" and most of the others that you have to buy the property (one place to get it = expensive) batteries every 3 months or so), has a battery backup for the transmitter, run through prevention, waterproof, etc. if you are in an area that has a lot of thunderstorms I would consider a protection module lighting ($ 50.00). Innotek now owns the brand invisible fence. Be sure to use heat shrink type crimp on butt connectors on the cable if necessary. They are available in stores chandlery. Do not use "wire nuts weatherproof" Lowe's, etc. will not be long in this application. Use an edger to dig the "trench" for the cable. The cable must be buried only 1 or 2 inches down. The yard will "cure" few days normally. Crossing driveways can be done two ways, wash a tunnel underneath with a garden hose or use an industrial Sierra with a sheet of concrete to cut a groove an inch or less deep, place the wire and sealed with a concrete sealer. For a gravel driveway, dig a trench about an inch wide and aa bout 3 or 4 inches deep, was an old piece of garden hose in the trench and put the cable through. This will protect the cable from the gravel cut when hit by a car. The key is taking the time to train your pet. I've known people to pay much money for a fence, neck strap and your dog then complain that the fence is junk when the dog blows right through it. The long-haired breeds require a longer contact investigation on the neck (which included with the previous system). Training may take awhile, one of ours took 18 months (which was a bit stubborn) before we trusted her, most were quite good in a month or so, and we have one that only took 3 days! The amazing thing is that we can take the necklace, put them on a leash and when we went to the perimeter their brakes come immediately! You can also lock the garden areas you do not want that in When Hurricane Isabel passed through it had no power for 3 weeks the field has changed with all the fallen trees, underground cable and the fence was damaged and none of the kids even tried the fence. As I said before, people who say it does not work, do not know what they are talking. We have 16 Huskies (17 until they lost one during the summer due to medical reasons), all free to run there, as contained in our 6 acre yard. And I'm not a dealer ….. only a satisfied customer with 16 Huskies most of them circumspect rescued as adults. We leave out unsupervised for hours without problems. However, do not leave them outside when we left the house. It will not keep other animals as the brats neighbors. Nor fence of 6 feet … I learned this when I lived elsewhere and was attacked by a neighbors dog in my backyard. As for people being afraid of dogs, and if a field barrier of 15 to 20 feet is not sufficient, there would be a chain link fence be. Also, if the animal remains in the property who cares if they are too scared. As for a dog running through … Well, yes, it could happen, however, with proper training, is unlikely. Huskies have very high prey drive. Where we live we have a lot of wildlife, large and small. The children line up along the edge of the field and watch the rabbits, geese, deer, etc. They do not challenge the fence. The deer and geese have learned where the kids can and can not go and stay outside "Husky country". Sometimes within 5 feet of children. As I have said does not. The key is training. That is the most important part of the installation of the fence. Some people advocate by the "wireless" type of fence. You have little control over the coverage area.
